I am Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick.
Until recently I have been Research Assistant at the University of Reading, working on an AHRC-funded project entitled 'Mapping Literary Space: Literary Journals, Publishing Firms and Intellectuals in Italy, 1940-1960' (PI: Dr La Penna - University of Reading; Co-I: Dr Billiani - The University of Manchester).
I completed my PhD at The University of Manchester in June 2013, with a research project focusing on the publishing strategies of poetry translation in post-WWII Italy. My project was funded by the AHRC and the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures (The University of Manchester).
Before moving to Manchester, in 2009 I did a 2-year MA in Comparative Literature at the University of Bologna, with a dissertation on Cesare Pavese's translation of James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man during Fascism. In 2006 I obtained an undergraduate degree in Modern Languages (English, French) from the same university, with a dissertation on the relations between Guillaume Apollinaire and Ardengo Soffici.
Between 2003 and 2009 I was a student of Collegio Superiore, school of excellence of the University of Bologna, with the aim of selecting particularly motivated students and offering advanced and interdisciplinary training.
Outside academia, I have also worked as a proofreader and translation copy editor for publishing houses in Paris and Bologna, and as a translator trainee at the Centre for Translation of the European Parliament (Luxembourg).
